The Lewis Foundation was set up due to both of us spending a significant amount of time at the Talbot Butler Ward at Northampton General Hospital, when Lee’s mum was receiving treatment for cancer. We noticed how sad and bored patients looked on the wards and in the private rooms when they were on their own without family and friends being present. A patient spends a lot of time alone. We talked about what we could do to make a patient have something to look forward to. This is so that they can take their mind off endless treatments and thinking about their cancer.

Northamptonshire Health Charitable Fund provides support to the activities of the NHS within Northamptonshire primarily to support the services provided by Northampton General Hospital and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The aim of the charity is to enhance patient experience over and above what the NHS can fund and to help deliver the highest standards of care to the patients and families who use Northampton General Hospital and the wider Healthcare facilities in Northamptonshire. It also supports our staff to improve, extend and innovate their work with the latest technology and training, enabling them to provide patients with the very best and most up to date treatments available. Whilst the NHS receives government funding for healthcare, there is always more that can be done to improve our services. It’s through the amazing generosity of patients, visitors, local companies, community groups and individuals that we are able to grow our services to help treat an even broader range of medical conditions. NHCF is there to support the healthcare facilities within Northamptonshire to improve patient care and we thank you for the support you give to help us achieve this.
